UC Doorways is an online platform that allows students to search and compare courses offered by the University of California (UC) system and participating institutions. It is a useful resource for students who are interested in transferring to a UC campus or taking UC-approved courses at their current school.
If you are a school administrator or faculty member and want to get your courses listed on UC Doorways, here is what you need to do:
Determine eligibility
First, make sure that your school meets the eligibility requirements for UC Doorways. Your school must be accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the U.S. Department of Education (ED). Additionally, your school must offer at least one UC-transferable course.
Register
Next, you will need to register with UC Doorways. Schools can register for an A-G course list anytime during the year. If you register when the course submission period is closed, you will need to wait until the next course submission period opens on February 1 to begin submitting courses. Any public or private California high school may establish an A-G course list if they are accredited (see accreditation details for more information) and a diploma-granting institution. Non-California high schools are not eligible to establish A-G course lists with the exception of online schools that serve California students. Before completing the registration form, schools should be ready to provide:
-A school code from The College Board.
-Proof of accreditation (official letter or certificate) as a high school from one of the UC-recognized regional accrediting agencies.
-County-District-School (CDS) code.
Submit documentation
You will need to provide a list of your UC-transferable courses, along with course descriptions and syllabi. UC Doorways will review this documentation to determine if your courses meet UC standards.
Wait for approval
UC Doorways will notify you if your courses have been approved for listing on UC Doorways via the portal. This process can take several weeks or even months, so be patient.
Update course information
If your courses are approved, you will need to update the course information on UC Doorways regularly. This includes any changes to course descriptions, syllabi, or instructors.
By following these steps, your school can get its courses listed on UC Doorways and make it easier for students to transfer to a UC campus or take UC-approved courses. It is an important resource for students in California and can help your school attract more transfer students.
